Understand the transparent surface effect
In trim selection, transparent describes a visual design direction. It does not guarantee an invisible label or glass-like light transmission. The visible detail depends on the fabric colour, texture and lighting. A physical sample on the exact base material establishes whether the effect meets the design brief.
Applications to compare
- Logos or graphics coordinated subtly with a garment colour.
- Collection accents with a tone-on-tone design direction.
- Bag or backpack details where the visible base colour needs approval.
- Samples comparing daytime appearance with the effect under incoming light.
Trial on each fabric colour
Prepare each fabric colour intended for the order. A sample can look different on a light, dark or patterned background. Do not use one base colour as the approval for all versions. When photographing samples, use equivalent lighting and distance, and inspect outlines, fine lettering and open spaces.
Checks before production
- Finished size and graphic clarity on the product.
- Visible base colour, surface tint and feel.
- Edges and adhesion after processing on the actual fabric.
- Reflective effect under the agreed lighting.
- Washing or care results against the order's acceptance criteria.
Select the application conditions for the trialled material and fabric. Send artwork, dimensions, a reference for the intended transparency, fabric, quantities and dates.

Frequently asked questions
Will the label be completely invisible?
Approve the actual sample. The product name does not guarantee invisibility; the surface, outline and base colour still need review.
Does a sample on white fabric represent black fabric?
Trial them separately. Light and dark bases can change the perceived detail, so approve a sample on each intended colour.
