3M Scotchlite Reflective Heat Transfer Labels
A 3M Scotchlite reflective heat transfer label combines a selected reflective material with the customer’s design. Retroreflective material returns light toward its source; it is not self-luminous. Material selection, artwork and the actual garment substrate should be assessed together.
Choose the material before approving the logo
For transfer film, compare 3M 8725. Segmented options such as 5510M or 5535 have their own construction and intended use. A segmented strip is not automatically suitable for every small logo detail.
Artwork and garment information to send
- A vector file at actual size, with dimensions, line widths and small gaps clearly defined.
- The required material code or an approved reference sample.
- Actual fabric, application position, quantity and required sample timing.
- Washing, drying and any finished-garment test requirements.
Approve the label on the real fabric
Review cut edges, adhesion, visual appearance and retroreflection on the intended substrate. Test the applied label using the garment’s care process. Press settings and artwork details are agreed from the selected material guidance and sample results.
Frequently asked questions
Does the label emit light in the dark?
Retroreflection needs incident light, such as a vehicle headlamp, and returns light toward the source. It does not replace a self-luminous element.
Does the material certificate also certify the logo or garment?
A material document has its own scope. Confirm the material, label design, application and required finished-garment testing separately.
