3M 5510M Segmented Reflective Trim
3M Scotchlite 5510M is a silver Segmented Home Wash Trim with heat-activated adhesive. Gaps in the segmented construction support flexibility and air movement. It is a transfer trim for compatible substrates and is not a flame-resistant material.
Plan the strip layout before sampling
Mark the width, length, starting points and ends of every strip on the garment drawing. For areas that bend or stretch frequently, provide the real fabric and photographs of the placement so appearance can be checked after application and during wear.
What to send for a 5510M enquiry
- The full material code, approved specification and a photograph of the roll label if available.
- A drawing showing dimensions, placement and required quantity.
- The actual substrate, fabric composition and stretch or flexing at the application area.
- The intended washing, drying or cleaning process and finished-product acceptance requirements.
- The required sample date and delivery schedule for supply review.
Test on the production fabric
Evaluate the material on the actual substrate and at the intended position. Review appearance, edge adhesion and performance after the proposed care process. Application settings must follow the documents for the exact code, the equipment and the sample results. Record the approved material code and lot before production.
Frequently asked questions
Is 5510M sewn onto the fabric?
5510M is a heat transfer trim. Its heat-activated adhesive is used to bond it to a compatible substrate. If the design requires a sewn fabric strip, confirm a material intended for that attachment method.
Can 5510M replace 5535 on a flame-resistant garment?
The two codes have different classifications. 3M 5535 is a flame-resistant segmented trim. Keep the approved material for the garment design; a similar segmented appearance does not establish interchangeability.
